Inside the 1837 Bed and Breakfast / Tea Room

The formal parlor of our Charleston, South Carolina Bed and Breakfast has the original red cypress wainscoting, cornice molding, and wide heart pine floors. The carriage house offers unique Charleston lodging with pine-beamed ceilings and exposed red brick walls showing evidence of the slaves' cooking stoves.

We are located in Harleston Village, an area where sea island planters began developing their spacious townhouses in the early 1800's. The first Golf Club in America was established in 1786, and had its golf course in Harlestonboro. The College of Charleston, founded in 1770, and the Charleston Place (Convention Center) are within easy walking distance. The Medical University of S.C. is also nearby.

Guest Rooms

Our Charleston, SC B&B features eight guest rooms and one suite, each with its own distinct style and flare. All rooms have individual heat and air conditioning, refrigerators, Cable TV, and private entrances and baths.

• Rates range from $99– $209.
• Rates are based on double occupancy, and reflect our yearly range.
• Additional $30.00 fee for third person.
• Discount for cash and personal check is $5.00 per night.
• American Express, Visa, Discover Card and MasterCard are also accepted.
• As we are a small Inn, cancellations and date changes must be made 7 days prior to your arrival date to ensure deposit refund. If you are uncertain of your reservation dates, please do not make a guaranteed reservation.
• Sorry, but the 1837 Bed and Breakfast does not allow pets.
• Limited parking available. Small cars preferred.

Smoking is not permitted inside the Inn, but areas are provided on our open piazzas.

• From I-26
  Follow the last exit sign to "Meeting Street / Visitor Information" onto Meeting Street. Continue on Meeting St. past Calhoun St. until Wentworth. Turn right. Cross King St., St. Phillips St. & Coming St. We are the 6th house on the right.

• From Georgetown
  Take US-17 south to Meeting St. Turn left onto Meeting St. to Wentworth. Turn right. Cross King St., St. Phillips St. & Coming St. We are the 6th house on the right.

• From Savannah
  Take US-17 north across the Ashley River. Turn right onto Lockwood Blvd. Pass the city marina on the right, pass Montague Street and take the next left onto Wentworth Street. Follow Wentworth through one flashing light to the 4th traffic light, or Pitt Street. Cross Pitt Street, we are the 5th house on the left.
